ABOUT

MARIA

Although new to the area, I have been practicing for over 25 years, prior to which I obtained an honours degree in Nutrition & Exercise Health at Brookes University in Oxford. As an outdoor and sports enthusiast I took this further and completed further courses in Sports Nutrition, before obtaining a Diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy.

In the last few years I have continued my professional development and completed qualifications in Advanced Clinical Massage with the Jing Institute, this incorporates hands on treatment of Sciatica, Chronic Neck Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Sprains, Strains, Sporting Injuries, Migraines, RSIs, Osteoarthritis , trigger point therapy, myofascial release and soft tissue release. I am also registered and insured with UK Coaching.

As a keen sports person I have an in depth knowledge and interest in Sports Massage. This has given me an insight into the strains and stresses our bodies endure during sport, helping me to understand how best to treat sports injuries.

I have competed at and participated in many sports including triathlon, cycling, running, hill walking, swimming and surfing, most notably completing several Ironman triathlons and being fortunate enough to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Florida and the Surf Life Saving World Championships in Melbourne.

Although I have treated many competitive sports enthusiasts to improve and aid their performance, everyone can benefit from massage therapy, whether to address an injury or chronic pain, to enable and allow participation and enjoyment from your chosen activity or simply to help relax and unwind from day to day stresses and challenges.
